Written Assignment (Interview 1)

Q PSYC 101 Interviews The interviews are meant as a way to get you interacting with your classmates. They ask simple questions that are related to important concepts for the course, but are meant more to get you to think about the concepts than to get the question “right”. They are not tests, but hopefully they will help to reinforce some ideas, get you thinking about the content, and be a fun way to interact with someone in your course. What To Do? Follow the three steps below for each interview. Step 1: organize your interviews You are responsible for organizing your interviews. You should start organizing early, as this is your responsibility. However, there are message boards on eLearn that are setup to help you do this. If someone asks you to do an interview, please do it. Even if you’ve already done an interview, they are not too difficult to do, so please help your classmates out and complete interviews you are asked to complete. Step 2: conduct the interview Go through the interview question (see below for each Module) with your interview partner and record their response. You will likely be answering the same questions for them as well. Try to spend a bit of time answering the questions. You can easily complete the interviews with a sentence, but try to do more for complete marks and to get more out of it. You can do the interview through Capilano University email, the eLearn chat/messaging feature, or some other way that you both agree on. Step 3: complete your submission and submit After the interview is done, look at your notes from the interview and organize them into a submission (see how this is done below). Go to the submission portal in eLearn and submit your interview. Be aware of the deadlines and don’t submit late. The Questions Module 1 What part of the history of psychology interested you the most and why? Written Assignment (Interview 1)

Structuralism, in the way, paved the road for psychology as a science, was a very interesting read. While the experiments regarding introspection might have been limiting in their reach, it’s true that people still use it as a method to understand themselves more. The reaction time discovery is also an important finding. People do and feel different things in different ways. Structuralism certainly has its limits, but it seems like a very good opening into something as complicated as the mind. Even though all of us share only common sensations, and the rest can’t be generalized, the individual differences also show us something about how a person’s mind can interpret the same experiences as entirely different.
